Day Recap
Wow what a day! went to the park and they had lunch for us, then they split us into parents and students. the students went on a scavenger hunt where they learned about neumont and all of the things they needed to know headed into their first day on Monday. They meet teachers from the university at each stop and had to complete a challenge in order to progress. They had to code a simple website, beat the English teacher @ boggle, solve riddles, and all of that.
Parent orientation was amazing! The president of the university spoke and discussed the things that parents needed to do for their student over the next few months. Since the program is a full bachelor's (including the basics math, english and all of that) they have sections called "sprints" where they take full courses in half the time. They made sure everyone knew that it was going to be a hard and stressful few years. Their was a lot less BS than I anticipated it being. Everyone was very approachable and forthcoming. Every grade the student gets is available online to specific users and their graduation track is online as well.
They made sure that the parents knew that this was very doable and that they provided TONS of resources for the student. Cody has an RA that lives 2 mins walking distance away, an "advocate" that tracks his progress and make sure he is staying on track, and everything he needs to make this happen.
Very coool day Vids to come

Today has been interesting!! We got to the apartments early and had to wait till everyone was ready to check in. We got to meet the new roommates which was pretty cool. Cody is in a room with another guy from Ohio, their other 2 roommates seem cool as well. We went and did a walmart trip and should have everything we need. I am WIPED out and at this point missing home pretty bad.
Meeting the Neumont staff was a very cool experience. They seem like they are going to be keeping a VERY close eye on the guys. They even have room inspections... ITS CRAZY!!!! There is no smoking in side, inspections to make sure the rooms are cleaned regularly, and they check for alcohol and other contraband in the rooms. I felt really good after the living arrangement orientation... almost like they were being a little too well guarded. I've decided that can be a good thing when the boy is 2000 miles away.
Tomorrow we will have Neumont orientation and see the school itself. I chatted with a Senior from Columbus GA today and he told me a lot about the program and how they work. We discussed the projects that they do and how it related directly to their real world application, and discussed how Neumont has kept its 100% job placement over the last 4 quarters. The people seem genuine and all of the Staff seem very helpful. They are VERY involved in the lives of the students it seems.
Ok like I said I am wiped out!!! I will post a few of the videos from today and go to bed...
Gonna try and get a change flight out on Sunday in stead of Monday because as far as things go here, everything is under control.
